We complain about the price of a stamp because it goes up ALL the time, but let's face it, how often do you even use stamps anymore? I can buy a book of 20 and it might last months (provided my kids don't have a birthday where invites and thank you cards get mailed out). I pay almost all my bills online, fill out forms online, make donations online. There are very few things I need a stamp for.

i honestly don't have any idea how much stamps cost anymore. i use one stamp a month and buy stamps about once a year.

i have to buy some here soon, so i may be complaining in the coming days.

60 cents would really bunch my underwear. but loki has a point, how often do we use them? the last time I used one was like late january-early february of this year. but I would be a little salty if buying a book of stamps costs me a lot of money (I would consider 12 dollars or more to be a lot of money to be spending on some little squares of tacky paper).

Yes.

Like the others, 1 book of stamps can last me a very long time. Although I am buying 4 books tomorrow, but that's for cards.

how much are these forever stamps? I assume they are more than the regular ones. if they are reasonable, I might pick some up to have around the house. I don't think we have any stamps now.

I think stamps are such a deal. You can put a stamp on an envelope and send it all the way to the other side of the US for pocket change.

the post office is pretty much useless.

so...the post office should continue to exist for the purpose of sending christmas cards? the post office is literally a dying breed. they should either severely minimalize it or cut it altogether. or just make it a next day mail service and package delivery. that way we don't get all this fucking junk mail clogging the landfills. stop delivering that kind of mail, less waste.

I haven't paid a bill that could be paid online probably in...forever. the only bill I paid through the mail was a cobra healthcare payment that could only be paid through the mail. besides that, I have always used the internet or phone to make a payment. and I don't get letters. I don't write letters.

no need, no need.

Well, nobody's forcing you to use the post office if you don't want to.

Pocket change to drive to the library? Mine is too far for me to walk.... I mean, it can walk there but it is far enough that I wouldn't ever do it.

I agree with this. Seriously ... to charge only 44 cents for postage is ridiculous. No wonder the postal service is going bankrupt!

Like many others, I rarely use the USPS to conduct transactions. But, I do like to send out cards for that personal touch.

then how would we receive all the crap we order off the internet? most of my stuff comes usps.

in the old days, towns were not towns until they had a post office.

that's why I said minimize it to package delivery and next day letter mailing. that way people would be paying more for their services and perhaps the post office, which would probably have less people working for them in this scenerio, can turn a profit.

our is like a half to 3/4s of a mile away, so if I absolutely had to, I would walk to it.

it's pretty much the backbone of my entire job so i would disagree with you there. certified mail and regular mail is big thing. not everyone has email and everything that is not written needs to be memorialized in writing. I sent out 300 letters in November to one major client alone. adding everything else probably close to 350.

also the usps delivers on saturday which is great when you need to make a deadline. plus it's pretty cheap. I sort of love the post office.
