Why don't Canadians don't know how to spell labor?

It's the Brits' fault.
(But I still don't spell labor, color, neighbor or any of the rest with a U.)

I hate cheques even more than I hate the extraneous Us.

Do they queue in Canada too or is that strictly a Brit thing?

Queue is not as common, but some people use it. I am probably the wrong person to ask based on the number of accents that surround me because of rugby. And even within Canada apparently, there is disagreement. A check is a mark you receive for correct work while in school, or a shape in a design called houndstooth, or even perhaps a split in the end of a piece of wood. The formal bill of exchange that allows money to move from one current account to another is a cheque.

Yeah, we don't "queue" here. We "get in the f*&^ing line"

But then some people say they're "on line" instead of "in line"

In Maryland, Arkansas and Florida, when you were ill, you called in sick. In Ohio, you call off.
I can't get used to it and I get the strangest looks when I say call in.

I always hear people going back and forth about "calling in" vs. "calling out" sick. I've always said I'm calling out sick.
I hate it when people say, "when I was pregnant for [insert baby name here]". You weren't pregnant FOR them! You were pregnant WITH them! ![]()

A woman after my own heart. I literally grind my teeth every time my mother in law says "pregnant for".

Speaking of lines, you stand in line to buy tickets or wait for a seat or to get your welfare check. You are only on line when you log into a wireless network, or if you are standing on white stripe on the road.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "pregnant for". That's just weird.
I use in line and on line interchangeably but use on line more frequently. |

I've never heard "pregnant for" and that just doesn't make sense to me!
